Lopes as in the 'lion lopes along on his way to the waterhole'
There isno such thing as a short cage XTR derailleur - sadly.
togood2die - no you are right. Huge hip to wall ride! Excellent rider. Just keeps it humble.
Great grips - so nice not to have the outer collar digging into one's palm. Very grippy and last pretty well for their thinness. I got about 50 days (6-8 hours on the bike) out of my first set. Only complaint is that the internal wedge does not have enough room in it to use them on Easton Haven or Havoc carbon bars as the wall thickness of the bar is thicker than aluminium despite being a lighter bar overall.
Niiiiiice!!!
@Sysics: no the bigger the rotor the greater the moennt one is generating on slowing the wheel. An additional bonus is that the larger rotor has a greater surface area so will also disipate the generated heat more effieciently (heat generated divided by surface area ). There is also the additional bonus of greater braking effect with less lever effort (or finger and arm pump).
Generally manufacturers spec the smallest possible rotor on consumer bikes because less material mean lesser costs and lighter claimed bike weights, most people are not descending Val Di Solle so do not need 220 mm rotors and larger rotors are more likely to contact a rock or other obstacle and be damaged during one's race run/ ride down a track in a bike park.
Good luck Tom - hope there is a chance that therapy can regenerate the nerve connection. I have had a temp paralysis of the right arm from a dislocated shoulder (and months of temp paralysis episodes) so have a small inkling of what it is like. Prayers and best wishes to you man.
Which would not have stopped a separated or fractured shoulder blade that compressed the brachial plexus nerve. Given the angle he speared in at a spine protector probably would not have helped prevent this injury in this crash either.
Adam - nice review as always thanks. BTW for all the haters I think that they are still making the Highroller and adding the II model to give more options - not certain but I think that is what I heard the rep say during Crankworx.
selfcontained - that Big Betty is the freeride version not the DH version - still a good burly tyre but not as robust as the full DH model
c-bernier - that model is not a DH tyre! Der Kaiser and Der Baron DH modela are 1000 - 1150 grams depending on the tyre & model. About Us
